Seven-week Quantitative Research/Trading internship at Wincent's Bratislava office, starting Summer 2027, with relocation, accommodation and visa support provided. Compensation is 5,000 EUR/month. Open to all levels including beginners.

Full job description

We are a team of over 150 people, primarily engineers, traders and quants, focused on HFT with around 1% of global crypto trading volume. Being a bit different, we are self-taught (our founders do not come from any of the big HFTs), chose to have no VCs on our cap table, and made Bratislava our central hub rather than London or Amsterdam. Culture: when you do something you love, it does not feel like work. Integrity is not negotiable, handshakes are sacred, and being in the money-making business is good but not worth compromising on our principles for, following the motto "be the good guys in the market." We say things as they are, and embrace internal radical transparency in terms of compensation, bonuses, and trading strategies. Quant Research/Trading Internship, Summer 2027, with relocation provided: would you like to be paired with experienced traders who will teach you how to identify market signals, analyze and execute trading strategies, conduct statistical analysis, construct quantitative models, and enhance your trading intuition? Join us as a Quantitative Research/Trading Intern on-site in Bratislava, Slovakia. We support European and UK citizens with accommodation and travel arrangements. You'll dive into the world of cryptocurrency trading, gaining hands-on experience in quantitative analysis, algorithm development, and market research, contributing to real projects, learning from experienced quant traders, and participating in simulated interactive mock trading sessions throughout the summer. About the Quant Research/Trading team: our trading team digs into fresh trading ideas and tweaks the ones we already have. Most of our trading is fully automated, but we're not afraid to mix in gut feeling or out-of-the-box ideas if they seem promising. A solid trader usually combines strong technical skills (stats and basic coding) with a good feel for probabilities and expected values. What you will do: morning betting games to get the day started; discussions on trading-related topics; practical exercises that mirror actual quant and trading tasks; time to explore your own ideas and projects, supported by our experienced team; games to enhance your trading intuition. On top of that, you will work with Python, Pandas, SQL, and Grafana for data analysis and real-time monitoring; learn trading fundamentals from experienced quants and traders; collaborate in teams to tackle challenging open-ended quant problems suitable for all levels, including beginners; participate in discussions about the problems to sharpen your argumentation skills; experience manual trading with substantial yet manageable positions to grasp market dynamics. What we expect from you: love for games or betting; basic coding skills in Python or similar languages, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies; strong communication and collaboration skills; curiosity and enthusiasm for cryptocurrency markets. On-site in Slovakia, relocation provided: this internship is on-site in Bratislava, Slovakia, with relocation provided; internships are not open to remote work. Interview process: an online math test (low-to-medium complexity problems on probability, logic, and mathematical skills, take-home); a 45-minute quant interview (medium complexity problems assessing intuition and problem-solving); a 90-minute quant interview (general discussion about background and passions, followed by medium-hard complexity problems); and an on-site interview in Bratislava involving betting games to evaluate quantitative reasoning and decision-making, with all costs covered. Compensation and work arrangement: salary is 5,000 EUR per month; full-day catering (all-inclusive breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks, fruits and treats) saves hundreds of euros a month; travel, accommodation and visa support is provided; exceptional interns may be considered for full-time positions; full-time commitment is required for the seven-week Summer 2027 internship; on-site participation in Bratislava is required; comprehensive onboarding training and guidance is provided. Why choose Bratislava: significantly lower cost of living than most major European cities; low income tax (25% in Slovakia versus 55% Austria, 50% Belgium, 49% Netherlands, 48% Portugal, 47% Spain, 45% UK/France/Germany, 44% Greece, 40% Ireland); a regional hub at the intersection of Austria, Czechia and Hungary; one of the safest capitals in Europe; a balanced lifestyle with access to nature and shorter commutes; a booming economy attracting international companies and startups in technology, finance, and innovation. The internship lasts seven weeks, beginning in June and running through the end of July, fully on-site at Wincent's offices.
