Full job description

RWE Generation places a student in its materials team in Swindon, working in the metallurgical laboratories on failure assessments and development work for its gas and renewable assets, with chances to visit operating power stations for inspection, maintenance and repair activities. The student develops laboratory skills in defect and material characterisation using optical and scanning electron microscopy and learns about power generation and the route to net zero. Applicants should be doing a BEng or MEng, ideally in materials science and engineering, though related engineering degrees with an interest in materials and lab work are encouraged. The placement is a full-time, fixed-term 13 months starting on 28 June 2027, and applicants should send a CV and cover letter by 30 October 2026, although the advert may close earlier if enough applications arrive.
