RWE Generation offers a placement at its Markinch combined heat and power station in Fife, the largest of its type in the UK, a biomass plant exporting up to 55 MWe and supplying heat to the Glenrothes district heating network. The student leads an engineering project to improve site performance, monitors and interprets plant data, recommends improvements, helps implement solutions to optimise commercial performance and carries out chemical testing for process and environmental quality. Ideally the applicant studies chemical engineering, though related subjects with an interest in plant performance and optimisation are welcome. The placement is a full-time, fixed-term 13 months starting on 28 June 2027, and applicants should send a CV and cover letter by 30 October 2026, although the advert may close earlier if enough applications arrive. Shortlisted candidates attend a face-to-face assessment centre in Swindon on 24 November 2026 with travel and accommodation paid by RWE.
