Reed Smith's direct training contract route is for candidates who have already passed SQE1 and can start from March 2028 onwards; applications open in spring 2027 and no closing date is given. Applicants need a 2:1 or above in any discipline and must be available for the next SQE2 cohort. Trainees are based at 1 Blossom Yard in London, receive 55,000 pounds in year one and 60,000 in year two, and the firm pays PGDL and SQE fees plus a 15,000 pound maintenance grant. Selection uses an online form and assessment, written questions, an on-demand video interview and an assessment centre with a case study, group exercise and written task, attended in person. The firm's FAQ says it can sponsor visas for successful training contract candidates.
