Full job description
A 16-month mechanical engineering graduate programme starting in early September 2027 at 37,500 pounds a year, based at the Heysham nuclear power station near Morecambe with one placement at another location. Work ranges from safety justifications for pipework modifications and fire protection strategy to steam turbine overhauls and commissioning support at Hinkley Point C. A bachelor's or postgraduate degree in mechanical, structural, aerospace or aeronautical engineering or a close relative is needed, plus interest in nuclear energy. Appointment requires meeting security vetting criteria, which usually means living in the UK for at least three of the past five years. The virtual assessment centre is on 10 November 2026. Applications are due to close on 1 October (2026), though EDF says it may close earlier because of volumes.
