Full job description
Bates Wells runs a two-week in-person vacation scheme at its London offices from 14 to 25 June 2027, with participants sitting in two different departments during the fortnight. It is open to penultimate-year law students, finalists and graduates of any degree discipline. Applications open on 1 October 2026 and close on 4 January 2027, and are reviewed on a rolling basis, so earlier submissions are encouraged. Shortlisted candidates attend an assessment centre that includes a panel interview with two interviewers, a written task and a presentation. Anyone who completes the scheme is automatically considered for a training contract and goes on to a final interview with the Managing Partner and another partner, and applicants must be free to start training in September 2029. Applicants can only pursue either the vacation scheme or the direct training contract in one cycle, and the pages give no pay figure or visa statement.
