Off-Cycle Internship Overview: Join us on an Off Cycle Internship for 3-6 months working within one of our Quant focused business areas. As an intern with Barclays you'll be embedded with one of our Quant teams, using the latest AI tools to work on algorithmic trading strategies, researching and developing models or producing data analysis tools for valuation and risk management. Quantitative Finance at Barclays: Our teams are an integral part of the bank, managing algorithmic trading strategies, researching and developing models and producing data analysis tools for valuation and risk management across various business areas. Specialist teams include: Markets Quantitative Analytics (models, data science and insights underpinning trading, risk management and decision-making across Global Markets); Risk Quantitative Analytics (models, analytics and technology to measure, manage and optimise financial risk); Electronic Trading (eTrading) (platforms, algorithms, quantitative models, client connectivity and automation for electronic trading capabilities). Who we're looking for: You'll have completed (or be in your final year of) a postgraduate qualification (Master's degree or higher) in a technical discipline such as Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Statistics, Stochastic Calculus, Computer Science, or other STEM subjects, with strong programming skills, particularly Python, C++, or Java. Purpose of the role: Bringing quantitative and analytical expertise to bear across the full spectrum of Markets and Risk businesses, including design and development of risk management and trading strategies through quantitative analysis, mathematical modelling, and technology. Accountabilities: Develop and implement quantitative models and strategies to enhance decision-making, pricing, and risk management. Design and maintain high-performance trading platforms and risk systems. Conduct research and data analysis to uncover market trends. Collaborate with traders, sales teams, and stakeholders in Risk and Finance. Work cross-functionally with compliance, IT, and strategy teams.
