Full job description
Ashfords offers a week-long summer placement in Exeter where you sit in three different departments and take part in an assessment centre that can lead to a training contract offer. The Exeter scheme runs as two separate weeks, 7 to 11 June and 14 to 18 June 2027, with a standalone assessment centre on 1 June 2027. The week ends with workshops, activities and a networking lunch. Applicants must be at least in the second year of a law degree (third year if the course lasts four years) or at least in the third year of a non-law degree, and must be able to start a training contract in 2029. Applications go through an online form, then a critical thinking exercise for shortlisted candidates, and the firm does not reply to anyone until after the 31 March 2027 closing date (applications open 1 November 2026). Up to 250 pounds is offered for travel and accommodation. The firm says it cannot currently sponsor people who lack the legal right to work in the UK, though this is under review.
